5 by 10 Board Printing in Dallas Fort Worth

A full 5 by 10 board gives teams more room to build large rigid graphics without automatically breaking the artwork into smaller panels. With our new EFI Pro 30h+ hybrid flatbed, Lawton can produce large direct to board graphics for signs, displays, events, retail environments, exhibits, site information, branded panels, and other oversized rigid applications.

The practical advantage is not simply a bigger print. It is the ability to plan larger graphics around fewer seams, fewer separate pieces, cleaner finishing, and a more straightforward production workflow when a 60 by 120 inch format makes sense.

What changes with a larger board

Why 5 by 10 board printing matters

A 5 by 10 board measures 60 by 120 inches. That extra size can be useful when a graphic would otherwise need multiple smaller rigid panels, especially for large branded displays, oversized maps, sponsor graphics, event panels, retail displays, construction communication, and exhibit work.

Not every project needs a 5 by 10 sheet. The advantage is having the option when the design, viewing distance, installation plan, or finished footprint calls for something larger than a traditional board format.

What this service usually includes

  • Large format flatbed printing for compatible rigid substrates
  • Full 5 by 10 or 60 by 120 inch board layouts when the material and application support it
  • File review, scaling, bleed, color, image resolution, and production setup
  • Direct to board printing that can remove a separate mounting step on compatible materials
  • Trimming, finishing, packing, local delivery, and installation support when needed

Where larger boards can help

  • Trade show and event panels with fewer visual breaks
  • Large site maps, project information boards, and construction graphics
  • Retail and POP displays built around larger branded surfaces
  • Corporate displays, sponsor boards, exhibit graphics, and presentation panels
  • Oversized graphics where reducing the number of separate panels simplifies setup
New production capability

The EFI Pro 30h+ is built for this kind of work

Our new EFI Pro 30h+ is a hybrid LED production printer that handles both rigid boards and roll media. For 5 by 10 work, the important part is its 126 inch print width, which gives the production team room to work with a full 120 inch dimension within the machine’s stated print width.

EFI also lists support for rigid media up to 2 inches thick, resolutions up to 1200 dpi, white ink capability, and continuous board production. That gives us a more flexible rigid graphics workflow for both large single boards and runs containing multiple panels.

Material still matters. A machine’s maximum dimensions do not mean every substrate is available or appropriate in every size, so we confirm the board type, thickness, finish, use environment, and availability before the project moves into production.

Common applications

Three places a larger rigid board can make the workflow easier

The main reason to move to a larger board is not to make every graphic bigger. It is to use the larger sheet strategically when it reduces panel count, supports the layout, or makes setup and presentation cleaner.

Large signs and branded panels

A full size rigid panel can give sign projects, sponsor graphics, building information, branded displays, and directional pieces more uninterrupted visual space.

Events and exhibits

Larger boards can work well for trade shows, event entrances, exhibits, photo environments, presentation panels, maps, and branded stage or room graphics.

Retail and temporary displays

POP graphics, promotional panels, menu displays, launch graphics, and retail and hospitality graphics can benefit when the design needs a larger continuous surface.

The goal is fewer unnecessary pieces

If a design can live on one appropriately sized board instead of several smaller panels, there can be fewer edges to align, fewer individual pieces to label and pack, and fewer components for the field team to manage.

That does not make 5 by 10 the right answer every time. It simply gives production another practical option when a larger finished graphic fits the project better.

Behind the scenes

What we handle before a 5 by 10 board reaches the jobsite or event

Large rigid pieces create different handling questions than a small poster. File scale, substrate choice, trimming, packing, transportation, doors, elevators, loading areas, and final placement all need to make sense before production starts.

Lawton helps manage that workflow from the initial file through finished production, using graphic design and prepress support, finishing, delivery, fulfillment, and installation where the project requires it.

Confirm the finished size

We start with where the board is going, how it will be viewed, how it will be transported, and whether one large board or several smaller pieces makes more sense.

Match the substrate to the use

Indoor display, temporary event use, construction communication, retail presentation, and longer term signage do not necessarily need the same material.

Check the file at full scale

Image resolution, logos, type size, bleed, color, cut information, and overall layout need to hold up at the actual output size.

Proof before production

Names, dates, dimensions, sponsor lists, maps, directional arrows, pricing, and final artwork should be approved before a large visible piece goes to print.

Print and finish

Depending on the project, the board can move through direct printing, trimming, finishing, labeling, and any additional preparation needed for the final use.

Plan the final handoff

A 5 by 10 board is large. Packing, delivery, loading access, transportation, and installation should be considered as part of production rather than after it.

Common project risks

What usually causes problems on large rigid board projects

Most problems do not begin when the printer starts. They begin earlier with the wrong size, the wrong material, a file that was never checked at scale, or a finished board that cannot be transported or installed the way the project requires.

1

Choosing the size before checking the space

Measure the wall, stand, booth, doorway, loading route, or installation area first. A board that prints correctly can still create a problem if it cannot reach the place it needs to go.

2

Assuming every rigid material comes in 5 by 10

Material availability varies. Confirming the actual substrate and sheet size before finalizing the design prevents a late change in production method.

3

Building artwork at the wrong scale

Low resolution images or improperly scaled files become much more noticeable on a large board. A production file check helps catch those issues before output.

4

Using one big board when smaller panels would work better

Larger is not automatically better. Access, transportation, storage, replacement needs, and installation can sometimes make a modular panel system the smarter choice.

5

Rushing the proof

A typo on a small handout is frustrating. The same typo across several feet of printed board is difficult to miss and more expensive to reproduce.

6

Waiting until the end to plan delivery

Large rigid pieces need room. Local delivery, vehicle size, protection, receiving instructions, and installation timing should be considered before the deadline arrives.

Best practices

How to get better results from 5 by 10 board printing

Start with the finished environment

Decide where the graphic will live and how people will see it before choosing the board. Viewing distance, lighting, handling, and installation conditions should influence the production plan.

Use the larger sheet only when it solves something

A 5 by 10 board is most useful when it reduces panel breaks, supports a larger design, or simplifies the finished presentation. Do not add size just for the sake of size.

Check artwork at final output scale

Large format files need enough image information to stay clean when enlarged. Logos, photographs, maps, small type, and fine details deserve extra attention.

Confirm material before locking the design

Different rigid substrates behave differently and may have different available sheet sizes. Confirm the material early so artwork and finishing are built around a real production plan.

Think about transportation early

Five feet by ten feet is a substantial physical piece. Make sure the board can be packed, loaded, delivered, carried through the building, and positioned where it needs to go.

Keep the proof cycle simple

One clearly approved final file helps prevent version confusion. This is especially important for event dates, construction information, sponsor lists, maps, and branded environments.

Examples of rigid board applications

Final substrate recommendations depend on the project, material availability, environment, handling, and finish requirements.

Rigid graphics already play a role in larger Lawton projects

These projects show why board production is rarely isolated from the rest of the job. It often connects to events, signage, presentation materials, installation, delivery, or a larger branded environment.

Texas Capital Training Day

Lawton produced a coordinated event package for Texas Capital in Dallas that included rigid posterboards alongside banners and 300 custom coil bound notebooks. The boards supported the room visually while fitting into a larger event production workflow.

Large rigid display production

Branded panels often need to work as part of a larger physical environment. That can involve checking scale, choosing the right rigid material, finishing the edges, protecting the piece for transport, and coordinating where it will ultimately be placed.

Questions teams actually ask

5 by 10 board printing FAQs

These are the practical questions that usually come up when a team starts planning a larger rigid graphic.

Can you print a full 5 by 10 board in Dallas Fort Worth

Yes, Lawton now has production capability built around the EFI Pro 30h+ for large rigid board work. The exact material, thickness, availability, artwork, and finished use should be reviewed before production.

How large is a 5 by 10 board in inches

A 5 by 10 foot board measures 60 by 120 inches. EFI lists the Pro 30h+ with a 126 inch maximum print width, which makes the 120 inch dimension compatible with the machine’s stated width capability.

Why would I use a 5 by 10 board instead of a 4 by 8 board

Use the larger format when the extra area helps the layout, reduces unnecessary panel breaks, or creates a cleaner finished presentation. A 4 by 8 board can still be the better choice when handling, transportation, installation, or the final footprint favors a smaller panel.

Can the EFI Pro 30h+ print directly on rigid boards

Yes. EFI describes the Pro 30h+ as a hybrid flatbed and roll fed printer designed for both rigid and flexible substrates. Direct printing can simplify production on compatible rigid materials because a separate printed sheet and mounting step may not be necessary.

What materials can be used for a 5 by 10 board

That depends on the application and what sheet sizes are available from the material manufacturer or distributor. We recommend confirming the substrate before final artwork is locked rather than assuming every foam, plastic, composite, or display board comes in the same dimensions.

Can you print white ink on rigid graphics

The EFI Pro 30h+ includes white ink capability. White ink can be useful on compatible nonwhite, transparent, specialty, and layered sign and display applications depending on the intended result.

Can you help set up a file for a 60 by 120 inch board

Yes. Our design and prepress team can help review scale, image quality, bleed, type size, logos, color, and other production details before the file reaches the printer.

Can Lawton deliver or install a board this large

We can help plan local delivery and graphic installation support based on the project. Access conditions matter, so doorways, elevators, loading areas, vehicles, mounting methods, and final placement should be discussed early.

Do I always need a 5 by 10 board for a large graphic

No. Sometimes several smaller panels are easier to transport, replace, store, or install. We can look at the final size and help determine whether one larger sheet or a modular panel approach makes more operational sense.

Can you print multiple smaller boards on the same machine

Yes. EFI lists continuous board production as a standard feature of the Pro 30h+. That makes the platform useful for both oversized individual boards and production runs involving multiple rigid pieces.

Why this helps

More size options give production more ways to solve the job

The value of the new EFI is not that every project should become a 5 by 10 board. It gives our production team another way to build large rigid graphics with fewer compromises when a larger single sheet is the better solution.

Lawton has supported North Texas print and graphics workflows for more than 40 years. The equipment continues to change, but the goal stays practical, check the details early, choose the right production method, and keep the finished project moving with fewer surprises.

No pressure, just support.
