Meet Rachel: The Heart of the Shop
If you’ve ever had something printed at Lawton, there’s a good chance Rachel’s had a hand in it.
Rachel first joined Lawton in 2004, when her husband was hired on. What began as occasional contract work quickly turned into something more — by 2016, she was full-time and has been a steady force ever since. “I can run pretty much every piece of equipment in the office,” she says, “and fix most of them too.”
“She is incredibly efficient, making things happen at a record pace. You can always count on her help with anything and with a high standard for quality.”
— Lisa, Business Development Manager at Lawton
“On my first day at Lawton, I didn’t spend much time with Rachel, but I only heard her speaking fluent Spanish, so I thought she didn’t speak a lick of English. On the second day, I greeted her with “Hola, Rachel!” and she responded in English, “What’s up, Kyle? How’s the day going?”.
“Rachel’s communication skills, kindness, creativity, and problem-solving abilities truly embody the spirit and essence of this company.”
When asked what’s kept her at Lawton all these years, Rachel doesn’t hesitate. “They treat you like family,” she says. “It’s super chill, laid-back, and there’s always plenty of work — you’re never bored.”
“One year, I slipped getting out of a Penske truck and landed flat on my back,” she laughs. “That Christmas, my Secret Santa, Mike McClain, gave me a Starbucks gift card and a big red helmet that said Crash Hawkins, covered in bandages. I still keep it on my mantle as a reminder to be more careful every day.”
“Rachel’s one of those people you can always count on. She knows the work, knows the people, and keeps the place moving — with a smile.”
— Greg Howard, President at Lawton
